Il muro - (I) Lettere

 

Il muro (El muro), es un proyecto mural que consiste en la intervención de unos tableros con motivos que de una manera u otra tienen que ver con la ciudad de Roma. Todos los proyectos de Il muro se realizan en el Estudio 23 de la Academia de España en Roma y se engloban dentro del proyecto de "Roma: Línea B".

Esta primera pieza es una interpretación de los rótulos que he ido encontrando en la ciudad durante mis excursiones. Muchos tienen importancia por su ubicación, otros por su estética, pero todos de algún modo están relacionados con el diseño gráfico, con Roma y con sus calles.

Il muro (The Wall), is a mural project that involves the intervention of a few boards with elements that, in one way or another, have relation with the city of Rome. All projects of Il muro are performed in the Studio 23 at the Academy of Spain in Rome and are included within the project "Roma: Linea B".

This first piece is an interpretation of the labels that have been found all around the city during my tours. Many are important for its location, other for its aesthetic, but all of them are related with graphic design, Rome and its streets.

Caro Diario

El pasado viernes tuve un plan alternativo y a la vez puramente romano:

Ver la película Caro diario en un cine ocupado en el barrio del Trastevere. Todo un lujo más aún cuando en encargado de presentar el film fue el propio director, Nanni Moretti, que nos deleitó con unas lecturas del diario original que escribió durante el rodaje de la película.

Dentro de la sala el ambiente era distendido. Hacía más frío que en la calle, la falta de espacio no supuso problema ya que la gente se sentaba en el suelo y la ley que prohíbe fumar en los espacios públicos cerrados brillaba por su ausencia. Hubo quien conociendo la impuntualidad romana se llevó el periódico para hacer tiempo y es que Moretti se hizo de rogar al menos media hora. Se le habría pinchado la Vespa… quién sabe.

Caro Diario

Last Friday I had an alternative plan but purely Roman indeed:

I saw Caro Diario in an occupied cinema in Trastevere. A luxury especially when the man in charge of presenting the film was the director, Nanni Moretti, who delighted us with readings of the original diary he wrote while filming the movie.

Inside the hall the atmosphere was relaxed. It was colder than on the street, lack of space meant no problem as people sat on the floor and the law of banning smoking in enclosed public spaces didn't exist here. There were people who know the Roman tardiness and decided to take the newspaper to make time because Moretti was late at least half an hour. Maybe his Vespa punctured… who knows?

Calles tipográficas

El barrio de Testaccio nos ofrece, entre otras curiosidades, un homenaje a dos grandes personalidades históricas italianas dentro de las artes gráficas: un impresor, Aldo Manuzio y un tipógrafo, Giambattista Bodoni, creador de la archiconocida fuente tipográfica Bodoni, que supone la culminación de 300 años de evolución de la tipografía romana.

Typographic streets

The neighborhood of Testaccio offers, among other curiosities, a tribute to two great Italian historical figures within the graphic arts: a printer, Aldo Manuzio and a typographer, Giambattista Bodoni, creator of the well-known typeface Bodoni, which is the culmination of 300 years of evolution of the Roman typeface.

Clet Abraham

 

Algunas señales del centro de Roma están intervenidas de una manera no muy transgresora pero si ingeniosa. El artífice de las que muestro es Clet Abraham, un artista francés que trabaja en Italia desde 1990. No es propiamente un artista urbano, aunque sus intervenciones sobre las señales de tráfico han hecho que su trabajo sea visible para aquellos que pasean por las calles de Roma, entre ellos yo.

Clet Abraham

Some signs of Rome city center are customized in a not so transgressive but ingenious way. The creator of that I show is Clet Abraham, a French artist who worked in Italy since 1990. He's not exactly an urban artist, although their interventions on road signs have made their work visible to those who walk through the streets of Rome, including me.
